The Lifetime Network is making an original movie based on the Flint water crisis.
According to Deadline, “Flint” featuring Queen Latifah, Betsy Brandt, Jill Scott, Marin Ireland, and Lyndie Greenwood will premiere October 28 on the cable television network.
The film is based on the story of several activists in the city that brought the water crisis to a national level, including Flint resident Melissa Mays. Their actions inspired a national movement for safe drinking water despite the political powers working against them at every turn.
Brandt, Scott and Ireland will play real-life activists and Latifah will play a fourth resident, fighting to expose the poisoning of the community during the horrific events of the water crisis.
Entertainer Cher had been cast to star in the movie, but she withdrew in March due to a family issue that prevented her from traveling to Toronto where the film was shot.
