This is Not a Drill
In Jay-Z’s recent New York Times article, the rapper opened up about the artistic journey of his latest album, 4:44. While detailing the process, Jay-Z also touched on his wife’s most personal album to date, Lemonade. According to the interview, both of their albums were made during the time the duo were recovering from Jay-Z’s infidelities.
“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” recalled Jay-Z.
’17 Bonnie & Clyde was almost a thing but instead, Lemonade was released.
“Her album came out as opposed to the joint album we were working on and this is what it became. There was never a point where it was like, ‘I’m making this album.’ I was right there the entire time.”
