We have all been hearing the term, “superfoods” lately, but what does it mean exactly? After a bit of research, I surmised that superfoods are foods that have an excess of nutrients and health benefits. These foods aren’t just good for you; they go beyond good to add extra nutrients that can help your body in hundreds of ways. However, some superfoods are expensive or hard to find, so for all you beginner health nuts out there check out these common superfoods that are easy to find and easy on the wallet(:
The humble lemon. These tangy fruits are great topically for acne and acne scars. You can also make a metabolism boosting concoction by squeezing a little lemon juice into your water every day. Very simple and very effective.
Ahhh scallops, one of my favorite foods. They are full of protein. Roughly 20grams of protein in only three ounces. So less will keep you fuller longer.
Sunflower seeds are a great snack of course, but did you know they are a superfood. Sunflower seeds are full of selenium which is a natural cancer fighter. They also have a lot of calcium making them good for your bones and teeth.

Lentils. Trust me, they are more common than you think. These little legumes are great for heart health and blood sugar. And since they are packed with so much nutrients and hardly any fat they are a great food to add to your diet.
We all know the rolled oats shown on the right but the steel cut ones on the left are much healthier because they less processed so they a lot of soluble and insoluble fiber. This means the steel cut oats are great for digestion and they keep you feeling full.
Olive oil is such common and versatile ingredient. It is packed with omega-3 which is a good fat that is prime to replace the other unhealthy oils you may be using. It can also be used topically to stimulate hair growth and as a moisturizer in these dry winter months.
Flax seeds may not seem so common, but they are more available than you may think.And that is great news because flax seeds are amazing for you’re hair, skin, ad nails. Its all about that omega-3.
Green Tea is a super drink. It is full of antioxidants that have a range of effects on brain health, fat loss, the immune system, and skin health.
Sardins. Haha I know what you are thinking, but they have over three times the recommended amount of b12 which is very important for brain health and fighting fatigue.
