Television has always left an impact on us. From the actors to the setting and the storyline, t.v is a big part of our lives. Trust me, we all shows we love to watch on designated days that we just can’t get enough of. But, when the season ends, we have nothing else to watch. We understand how y’all feel. Either way, these are shows that we adore and NEED back on our screens ASAP!
Bridgerton
The scripted romance, Bridgerton, was given to us on Christmas, 2020. Fans adore the show and how it takes place in the Regency Era in England. Not only did fans like the time period, but they also enjoyed watching the different families and how they lived during this time, as well as how different it was for men and women. We were extremely excited to see a lot of the people get what they deserved, whether it be true love or a true fate. Although we won’t be seeing The Duke of Hastings this upcoming season, we’re still looking forward to all of Lady Whistledown’s piping tea.
Insecure
Starring the Awkward Black Girl herself is Issa Rae. Insecure, has always kept us warm, full of laughter and wine on Sunday nights. We miss seeing the attractive men on our screens like Jay Ellis, Kendrick Sampson, and Y’lan Noel. We also miss seeing the growth in Issa and her choices in men as time progresses. We miss cooking Condolavirus on Twitter and siding with Issa while she and Molly were beefing. Although this is going to be the last season of this fantastic show, we can’t wait to savor every episode.
Lovecraft Country
Lovecraft Country dropped in the Summer of 2020 and this show kept us fans on our toes and woke. This drama goes back in time and shows how hard it was for African-Americans and all the trials our ancestors went through. Lovecraft Country also added a science fiction aspect to the show and we loved every second of it. Although some people may think the timing of this show wasn’t the best, with the police brutality and Black lives being taken this summer, it reminded us of the power we truly have and that no one can take it away. We hope and pray that season two includes much more Black history, love, crazy science, and metal arm Diana!
P-Valley
You hear this theme song and you know what’s about to go down. When P-Valley comes on, we leave our bedrooms and enter into the valley “where the girls get naked.” This strip club and the people inside keep us coming back for more. Us fans wish we could have the upper body strength these women have and their terrific pole abilities. In season two, we hope to see more of Hailey and the leader of the pack, Mercedes. We want all of these women and Uncle Clifford to get all that they deserve and nothing less. Not to fear, season two is near!
Power Book II: Ghost
Created by the legendary 50 Cent is Power Book II: Ghost. Everyone on this show is all pieces in a game of chess. The main objective is either figuring out who killed James St. Patrick or hoping that no one learns that it’s you. Power Book II takes us on a journey of adulthood with Tariq St. Patrick, who is responsible for killing his father. In season two, we need more twists, turns, and jaw-dropping episodes. We have no doubt in our mind that the cast will deliver. We can’t wait to see more mysteries, love triangles, and our favorite Auntie, Mary J. Blidge, this fall. Before Power Book II comes back, we’re getting Power Book III: Raising Kanan, this summer.
The Real Housewives of Potomac
Leaving scripted T.V. and jumping to reality, we have The Real Housewives of Potomac. Another Black television show on Bravo that has a stellar cast. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is one of the OG’s but, they have no choice but to make room for these women. Other than being businesswomen and entrepreneurs, these women bring the heat and they don’t mess around. Be on the lookout for the Grand Dame, The green eyed-bandits, Ashley, Candiace, and Wendy this summer! They will show you why exactly you shouldn’t sleep on Potomac.
Stranger Things
If understanding the assignment was in the encyclopedia, the cast of Stranger Things would be right next to it. These young actors and actresses are always on their A-game and it’s crazy because they are so young in such a challenging industry. Stranger Things is shows us what it’s like for a group of friends in the ’80s in Hawkins, Indiana and just how strange science and board games could get. We know y’all are ready for 4th season to drop on Netflix but while you’re waiting, check out Concrete Cowboy starring Stranger Things star, Caleb McLaughlin, out now!
Too Hot to Handle
The reality T.V. show Too Hot to Handle, shook up the reality television realm. It kept viewers sane during quarantine and entertained at the same time. Trying to keep your hands and all other body parts to yourself seems like one helluva challenge, especially when you’re attracted to that person. This show had the challenges on deck and had Twitter blowing up. We’re excited to catch season 2 this Summer after the hit show, The Circle.
You
Keeping things creepy but wanting more is the hit Netflix series, You. You premiered in 2018 and made people fall in love with a crazy serial killer named Joe. We knew what was going to come because we all watched the trailer but, Joe is so sweet and just “looking for love”. Who would’ve thought he would become a psychotic killer? Either way, we need this psycho back on our screens now so we can continue to cover our eyes from the fear and watch on Teleparty with our friends!
Since we have come to the conclusion that we need these shows back effective immediately, what are we gonna do until they come back on? Until then, I say binge-watch the shows, and tell us in the comments what you all think will happen in the next seasons of these shows.
