After her two- time Oscar-nominated role in Mudbound, Mary J. Blige has “secured the bag” yet again by her starring role in horror thriller Body Cam. Deadline reports the movie will be directed by Malik Vitthal, who directed Imperial Dreams starring John Boyega.
Body Cam is based on a group of LAPD officers that are being haunted by “a malevolent spirit that is tied to the murder of a black youth at the hands of two white cops.”
The officers were captured on a body cam that was destroyed in a cover-up. Blige’s character is an officer that is having visions and wants to find the truth. This will be Blige’s first time in a starring role.
Although Blige is not foreign to being on the big screen, appearing in films such as Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself and Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise. It is also set that Blige is to appear in the new Netflix series The Umbrella Academy as a psychotic hit woman.
