LinkedIn has met the show biz industry and we owe it all to a multi-hyphenated queen. Ava DuVernay became the change she wanted to see in the entertainment industry! The Filmmaker has leveled up by launching a new database called, ARRAY Crew. As a Black Woman, DuVernay knows firsthand how hard it is to break into an inclusive industry. The database will help women and people of color showcase their skills. Many managers/executives will use ARRAY as a resource to hire. ARRAY Crew officially launched on February 19th and in just a short time over 3,000 profiles have been created on the site.
ARRAY Crew Opportunities
The Filmmaker has reported that many rising talents have already begun receiving job opportunities! This is a huge step towards bridging the gap for the underrepresented in the entertainment industry. Sony, Netflix, Disney, Hulu, and other major networks have already invested in the platform. The ARRAY Crew is serving “below the line talent” which is a great way to diversify Hollywood. Currently, there are 45 categories offered for those who sign up.
The categories include:
- Lighting Directors
- Production Designers
- VFX Designers
- Costume Designers
- Food Stylist
And many more.
The time is now. If you are looking to break into the entertainment industry, head over to ARRAY Crew and create a profile. You only need one credit to qualify for entry into the database. The platform offers production opportunities in major cities like Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, New York, and more.
The Master Mind
As we continue to celebrate Women’s History Month, we want to shine a bright light on Ava DuVernay. She was the first African-American woman to win Best Director at the 2012’s Sundance Film Festival for her film, Middle of Nowhere. As a writer, director, and producer, she continues to break barriers in Hollywood with her impactful films, such as Selma, and, A Wrinkle in Time. The film, 13TH, earned her two Primetime Emmys, a Golden Globe Nomination, and an Oscar Nomination. In 2019, her Netflix miniseries about the Exonerated Five, When They See Us, was the most-watched series on Netflix in 2019. As a result, the miniseries earned DuVernay various awards and accolades.
Her groundbreaking projects have brilliantly highlighted truth and justice. She is the epitome of a storyteller making sure everyone’s voice is heard and now she is opening doors for many women to tell their story.
