When I decided to have my NYC team try Nike’s new platform, Nike Studio NYC, our Monday meeting was quieter than usual. Some of the girls were excited, and some were nervous. “I haven’t run in years,” our social media intern Waranka said. “Thank God, I’m going to Portugal,” laughed our operations lead manager, Nancy. However, I (Gabrielle 💓) was extremely excited!
There is nothing I love more than trying new things with my team, especially when the thing we’re trying has the ability to positively impact our lives and overall health. Over the past month, our MEF team had the opportunity to test out Nike Studio NYC—Nike’s resource hub for NYC runners. Through exploring the site, I felt like I got to reawaken my love for running even more, and I felt like I got to experience a new sense of community.
What I love about the Nike Studio NYC site is that beginner and expert runners alike have the ability to connect with fellow runners in their community, explore helpful virtual coaching and training plans, journal/track, and even their runs. Our dynamic team is made up of leisure runners, mommy runners, and even non-runners. Nike Studio NYC allowed us each to gain something, whether seeing more of our beautiful city through new eyes, consistently using the site to stay active, or connecting us with new people and new activities to further our running journey.
Our team took a tour of the sites throughout New York City so that we could share our personal experiences with you. Below are our notes.

Testing Nike Studio NYC was so much fun. I love the Community Run section. I’m a leisure runner, so it’s exciting to have such quick access to groups in my area with similar interests. Sometimes I run, sometimes I swim, and sometimes I do yoga or take a Zumba class. I like to run during the warmer months so I can get outside and enjoy the sun, so it’s a very leisurely activity for me. I like to go for long, slow runs, so I used the site to track my routes, mileage, and body changes—pace, aches, pains, need for snacks or electrolytes, etc.

I found so much helpful content thanks to Nike Studio NYC. I especially liked the training plans. My “get started” 4-week plan set an easy pace I could complete without feeling defeated if I didn’t finish it at all. I found the running plan easy to follow and incorporated it into my daily schedule. It allows you to structure your time according to your routine. I also like the running journal. Through Nike Studio NYC, I was able to explore more of my city – I ran in Prospect Park and around Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.

The Getting Started plan fits my lifestyle well because it gives me a different activity for each of my active days: yoga, walking, speedrunning—I work well with variety. That takes the boredom out of staying fit for me. I also like how the plans for Nike Studio NYC connect you to the Nike Training Club by giving you further info on areas like nutrition, which I am big on. When you are eating healthy, recipes can get repetitive. Nike Studio NYC provides articles on how to spruce up your nutritious meals. There are forums where you can ask questions and receive advice from fellow runners. You can even use it as a FAQ section whenever you have a thought or question about running.
Waranka, Social Media Intern
The Nike Studio NYC interface was very easy to use and accessible. There wasn’t any trouble when it came to finding what you were looking for, whether it was reviewing your training plan, your journal, or even the run forums. My favorite feature is the journals. I run by myself, so I resonate most with the journal feature. I love journaling and always feel like it’s the best way to track progress as well as how you feel during that process. I enjoy the solitude and find it another form of winding down for me. Right after my run, I’ll reflect on how I felt, what stood out to me on my run, etc.
The MEF teammates all agreed that, whether you’re looking for a new area to run in or connecting with runners with similar interests and goals, the Nike Studio NYC site creates an environment for NYC runners to connect, learn, and grow.
