Guess who’s back for Bravo’s “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard” Season 2? After a successful first season, the largely New York-based cast returns to one of America’s most prestigious islands off the coast of Massachusetts.
Although this show is a spinoff from Bravo’s “Summer House” franchise, there are glaring differences. For example, the show features authentic friendships; instead of partying, they engage in brunch and discuss their entrepreneurial endeavors. Additionally, the cast members spend much time discussing their identity and the history of Black pride on the island.
How is everyone related to “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard Season 2”?
Curated by Jasmine Ellis Cooper, this beautiful friend group is driven, fun, and always up for an adventure. The ladies of the cast (Jordan Emmanuel, Jasmine Ellis Cooper, Bria Fleming, and Shanice Henderson) initially met while working as Playboy bunnies in New York City. They stand ten toes down when it comes to sister-cousin energy. Meanwhile, Cooper tapped her husband, Silas Cooper, to rally his fellow fraternity brothers to the Vineyard. The rest of the cast are mutually close friends.
Fans quickly fell in love with “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard” for its deep-rooted Black American history and ultra-rare vibe.
With any new reality show, it takes a few seasons to develop the storyline. But the “SHMV” cast came in with a lot going on. In Season 2, Cooper is focused on marriage and pushing the traditional wife-husband gender role. Meanwhile, Cooper’s single friends are navigating adulthood and the messy friendships that come with it.
Unlike many Bravo shows, this one is wrapped in history lessons, which naturally plays into the reason for filming the show on an island that is largely asleep with tourists during the off-season. Martha’s Vineyard, Oaks Bluff, is a known destination for Black wealth. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama own property on the island. It has a long history of welcoming African Americans during and after slavery in the US.
The “SHMV” Season 2 does a great job showing all the interesting stories associated with Black historical landmarks, and the cast also weaves in their personal connections to the beach town. Here’s a breakdown of the “SHMV” Season 2 cast.
1. Jasmine Ellis Cooper (IG: Jasmineelliscooper)
Arguably one of the youngest “Betty Crocker” military wives on Bravo, Cooper is committed to being a good host, but her friends aren’t buying it. While Cooper’s military lifestyle doesn’t always align with island time, it makes for a compelling storyline.
2. Jordan Emmanuel (IG: Jordy_jor)
Known for her sex appeal, Jordan Emmanuel is the cast’s most eligible single. She was the fourth Black “Playboy” bunny of the month. Despite her over-sexualized career journey, she maintains her celibacy-era principles and stands on business. After Season 1, Emmanuel has established herself as the girly girl, but don’t tempt her – she bites! In “SHMV” Season 2, viewers can expect her to bring the one-liner comebacks and open up about her struggles with alopecia.
3. Bria Fleming and Milo the Dog (IG: Bria.raven)
Bria Fleming is a firecracker who quickly became a fan favorite for her drama-filled life. Between her adorable dog and her European boyfriend, she brings just the right amount of ghetto fabulous to Martha’s Vineyard. From bossing around her boyfriend to throwing shade at her former “Playboy” coworkers, Fleming will return with curveballs and a Barbie-inspired wardrobe.
4. Shanice Henderson (IG: Shanicehenderson)
Shanice Henderson may be a part-time cast member, but she is carefree and understands the assignment. Henderson will appear on the island for the new season, planning to make last memories with her girls and flirting up a storm with the boys.
5. Summer Marie Thompson (IG: Summermariethompson)
With a name that recognizes the season, the Jamaican-born screenwriter will also join the beach house. Jordan Emmanuel interviewed Marie Thompson for “Playboy” a few years ago, and they all became friends, which earned her a bedroom on “Summer House.” She gives us girl-next-door vibes and will continue her long triangle with cast mate Alex Tyree.
6. Noelle Haughty (IG: Noellereneexo)
Noelle is a newcomer on Season 2 but no stranger to Oak Bluffs and the closed group chat. She’s beautiful, ready to mingle, and likely to catch the attention of one of the men in the house. In other words, drama will likely ensue.
7. Amir Lancaster – (IG: _AmirLancaster_)
The Texas-based real estate agent Amir Lancaster, warmed the hearts of many last season. Not to mention, he’s a walking thirst trap. As a friend of Alex Tyree, Lancaster scored a bedroom on “Summer House.” During Season 1, he was single and ready to mingle. However, Season 2 will see his return with a problematic girlfriend waiting to disrupt the house vibe, Bravo’s The Daily Dish.
8. Alex Tyree (IG: Alextyree)
The off-duty singer and poet captivated fans with his melodic voice and performance at the end of Season 1. Per the Season 2 trailer, Tyree is the bachelor of “Summer House.”
9. Nicholas “Nick” Arrington (IG: Nickarrington1)
Nick Arrington arrived in a full suit last summer, and rumors circulated about an estranged girlfriend back home in Harlem, New York. During Season 2, his roaming eyes are the center of attention, per Bravo’s The Daily Dish.
10. Preston Mitchum – (IG: Preston.mitchum)
Last but certainly not least, Preston Mitchum is the group’s unofficial Black Gandhi. As a successful corporate advertiser and publicist, Mitchum effortlessly bridges the feminine and masculine energies of the cast mates. He identifies with the LGBTQIA+ community and brings a worldly view to the friend group.
“SHMV” Season 2 is sure to attract even more viewers.
The “Summer House” franchise does an exceptional job of showcasing the nuances of Black culture. “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard” Season 2 kicks off on March 24, 2024, at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
