Don’t make us call, Porsha. It feels like there’s a reshuffling of the old guard within Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise, with makeovers and facelifts abound. The woman once known as Porsha Williams is now returning to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” for a fresh start as Porsha Guobadia.
With the departure of the multi-hyphenate Kandi Burruss, Season 16 will welcome back the fan favorite, who is sure to bring more excitement to the show. With this new vibe on the horizon, it begs the question: What other Black housewives do we want to see return? Let’s explore Guobadia’s highly-anticipated return and the Black housewives that need to follow suit.
Porsha Guobadia makes a grand re-entrance to the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” with a new NBCUniversal contract.
Guobadia is making a grand re-entrance to “RHOA” with a new NBC Universal deal. According to Deadline, Guobadia signed an exclusive scripted talent deal with NBCU Entertainment. So, it’s safe to say that “RHOA” is not the only Bravo, well NBCUniversal entity for that matter, that the reality star will appear on.
Since her last reality show appearance, the 42-year-old has focused on her businesses, Go Naked Hair and Pampered by Porsha. And of, course, Guobadia puts her job as a mom to Pilar Jhena first, especially with her now being the matriarch of a blended family. So, it’ll be interesting to see Guobadia’s new life showcased in the franchise.
4 Black Housewives We Want to See Return to the Franchise
In addition to our Nigerian queen, there are other Black housewives that we’re eager to see grace the screen. Whether these ladies have been put “on pause” or are quietly waiting in the wings, these housewives deserve another shot at the franchise. Here are four of our favorite Black housewives that need to return.
1. Nene Leakes – The Real Housewives of Atlanta
NeNe Leakes from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” tops the list for a good reason. The 56-year-old always trends on social media — on- and off-season — with Bravo fans demanding that the network bring the high-energy personality back to the small screen. However, given the legal circumstances associated with Leakes’ departure from the franchise, a return to NBCUniversal would be a miracle. In other words, both parties would have to be open to reconciliation.
2. Katie Rost – The Real Housewives of Potomac
Katie Rost from “The Real Housewives of Potomac” brings just the right amount of quirkiness and weirdness that better represents the average housewife. Rost is not only entertaining, but she also represents the hot mess friend we all have in our friend groups.
3. Eboni K. Williams – The Real Housewives of New York
A return of Eboni K. Williams from “The Real Housewives of New York” would be a real game changer. Williams’ fiery personality and intellect are a match for great television. Plus, her one-season experience with the franchise makes her an easy fit with the rebooted cast.
4. Mary Cosby – The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
Mary Cosby from “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is a former main cast member and friend of the show. She not only lives the dream of a stay-at-home housewife, but her comebacks are also unmatched and entirely natural. The fans have spoken, and Cosby needs a place in the Bravo lineup!
Black housewives have been the undisputable driving force behind making the “Real Housewives” franchise what it is today — with their scrappy reads and hot gossip. Moreover, it’s time to move beyond the tired “Bolo” references and explore new storylines. As such, this is why Guobadia and many other Black housewives are essential to the success and relevance of the franchise.
