“Vanderpump Rules” and, by default, Bravo, has experienced no shortage of criticism. Many have written about “VPR’s” racial reckoning and Bravo’s long list of misdeeds. But things seemed to be looking up, as “Scandoval” propelled the reality TV show into mainstream pop culture. Unfortunately, no number of promises from the network — and the TV show — of inclusivity and diversity can stop the slew of lawsuits from former cast members, including Faith Stowers.
ICYMI, the Bravolebrity was on “VPR” for Seasons 4 and 5 before departing. According to Variety, Faith Stowers is suing Bravo and its parent company, NBCUniversal, for racial harassment and retaliation. Below, we discuss everything you need to know about Stowers’ lawsuit and its current status.
Faith Stowers is suing Bravo for “racism, sexual harassment, and physical assault” she allegedly experienced while on the show.
Stowers alleged that she experienced severe racial trauma from Bravo and her “VPR” castmates, including Lala Kent and executive producer and former housewife on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Lisa Vanderpump. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stowers says that Kent held a knife to her neck and threatened to “cut a b—h.” Stowers alleged that she was routinely mocked for her natural hair and was subjected to racial slurs.
The lawsuit also claims that Vanderpump knew of the alleged assault from Kent and discouraged Stowers from reporting the incident to the authorities. Furthermore, the lawsuit states that Vanderpump threatened to remove Stowers from the show if she couldn’t get along with other cast members.
Along with racial harassment, the lawsuit lists pay discrepancy issues, noting how Stowers earned $5,000 for Season 4 before being demoted to “volunteer” for Season 5.
The “Vanderpump Rules” alum is no stranger to discussing her issues with Bravo.
This is not the first time Stowers has spoken about Bravo and their failure to handle racially motivated issues correctly. In 2020, during the George Floyd protest, she spoke on Instagram Live about being accused of a crime she didn’t commit.
According to Today, in 2018, Kristin Doute and Stassi Schroeder called the police on Stowers and claimed she was drugging and robbing men in Hollywood. The pair believed that Faith was the culprit after seeing a picture of the alleged perpetrator in a Daily Mail article.
“There was this article … where there was an African American lady,” Stowers told the outlet. “It was a weird photo, so she looked very light-skinned and had these different, weird tattoos. They showcased her, and I guess this woman was robbing people. And they called the cops and said it was me. This is a true story. I actually heard this from Stassi during an interview.”
Schroeder and Doute were fired from the show in mid-2020 after Stowers’ Instagram live. However, Doute has returned to Bravo in a “VPR” spin-off called “The Valley.” This action, Stowers says, demonstrates “an astonishingly cynical act of performative allyship” via Variety.
Faith Stowers’ lawsuit brings the total lawsuits against Bravo to three. In case you forgot, some housewives are also suing the network for similar harassment claims. Since the lawsuit was filed in early April 2024, there are no new developments to report. However, we’ll keep you updated as new information comes in.
