‘Atlanta’ creator and Golden Globe-winner, Donald Glover has signed an exclusive overall deal with FX Productions, where he’ll be developing new projects for the network and other streaming services. This is very fitting considering that FX Studios has been widely behind Atlanta.
“Donald is a remarkable artist, effortlessly shifting from actor to writer, producer, director and musician to create one amazing project after another,”
Nick Grad, president of original programming, FX Networks and FX Productions said, via Variety.
“ ‘Atlanta’ is just the beginning, the breakout comedy of the year and a series revered as much for its originality as its honest look at the experience of being aspiring, young and black in that legendary city. We’re proud to partner with Donald in an overall deal that will allow him to continue turning his creative vision into incredible television.”
The new deal won’t impact his many ‘Atlanta’ roles. He will continue to write, direct, executive produce and star in the series.
FX also announced that Season Two of Atlanta will be delayed until 2018 due to Glover’s busy production schedule, which includes his role as Lando Calrissian in the forthcoming Han Solo Star Wars film.
