The wait is over! Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, announced to fans that new music is on the way.
The rapper went live on his “GILGA Radio” show via Instagram Live on April 14, 2024, to make the announcement. During the livestream, the rapper confirmed his plans to release two projects. In addition, these projects will be Childish Gambino’s final two albums.
The “Atlanta” creator revealed that he’s remixing his 2020 album, “3.15.20,” and will rename it “Atavista.” Glover also announced that the second project would be a soundtrack to his upcoming movie, “Bando Stone & The New World.”
“We’re releasing “Atavista,” but after that, there’s the final Childish Gambino album, a soundtrack for the fans,” Gambino said.
What will Childish Gambino’s final albums sound like?
On Instagram Live, the father of three provided clips of the songs that will appear on one of his two forthcoming albums. In one particular teaser, he revealed that Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will be featured on the album. During the clip, Ye rapped about a potential sequel to ‘Watch the Throne.”
Additionally, Gambino confirmed that the project will feature Kid Cudi. This decision comes after the two rappers were at odds in early 2024. It is unclear how and why the tension started, but Gambino seemingly wants to squash the beef.
According to Complex, Gambino sent a message to Cudi via his “GILGA Radio” show, attempting to reconcile their differences.
“Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, I’m not here for the beef. Just talk to me,” Gambino said via the outlet. “Because it’s like we don’t have to agree on everything, but we also don’t have to be like, ‘When I see you, we have to want to kill each other.’ Man, life is too short.”
Interestingly, Cudi and Gambino’s tentative collaboration, “Warlord,” was leaked in 2021. However, it has yet to be verified whether Gambino and Cudi have been able to resolve their issues. That said, Complex also reported that Gambino’s comments were made after Cudi replied, “I’m cool,” to a fan who asked if he would ever collaborate with Gambino.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a mock ad ran during the “GILGA Radio” show, stating that fans can expect the music to be released in summer 2024. However, Gambino has not confirmed which album these songs will be featured on.

Soon after Gambino’s new music announcement, fans took to social media to share their excitement about the two albums. Many users pointed out that they’ve missed Childish Gambino, although they’ve enjoyed his film and music career as Donald Glover.
Fans also reacted to the rapper’s announcement of a world tour on April 22, 2024. The rapper has not been on the road since his 2018 tour, “This is America.”
Gambino has provided music that has shifted the culture throughout his career as a rapper. From “3005” to “Redbone,” his talent has been diverse in the music he presents, making him one of the best musicians of his generation. Though he has not revealed exactly why he will no longer make music, Glover’s successful career as an actor, writer, and producer is enough to satisfy fans.
