When Moonlight won the Academy Award for Best Picture late Sunday night — after presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced La La Land the winner, the Oscar air was filled with confusion and laughter.
The La La Land cast got up and started to give their acceptance speeches before the mistake was righted, and the true winner, Moonlight, was revealed. The internet of course, along with all of Hollywood went crazy.
While many made jokes about the epic mix-up, comparing it to Steve Harvey’s huge blunder at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant; others shared their respect and love for the under dog Oscars winner.
