The MTV Movie and Tv Awards aired last night, and the fashion wasn’t the only showstopper. Everyone has been talking about MTV’s decision to make the award categories gender neutral. The intention is to show that women do not need to be separated to achieve. The decision is controversial because some believe that this change, if adopted by other platforms, could mean women will be recognized less often. Although, some take issue in the fact that a woman’s role and a man’s are so different on-screen that it makes sense for them to be nominated separately. No matter what you believe in regards to MTV’s award show shake up the show was a hit, and we’ll see if any other platforms join MTV in the future.
