Canadian model Winnie Harlow, 24 discovered on YouTube in 2013 thanks to her stunning looks and made her way on to America’s Next Top Model in 2014 to gracing covers of your favorite magazines.
It’s no secret that the modeling industry is brutal. From controversy of being the cause of eating disorders, discrimination and just an all around whirlwind of hair, makeup and fashion, modeling is one of the hardest careers to be successful in.
Winnie Harlow made her appearance on Season 21 of ANTM. Though she did not place, Harlow’s appearance boosted her network. She received over 180,000 likes on Instagram and whopping 2.7 million viewers. This success, however, did not come easy as Harlow suffers from vitiligo, a severe skin condition which causes patches of skin to lose pigmentation. Harlow used her platform to also become an activist, representing and speaking for models just like her.
After ANTM, Harlow has gone on to model for prestigious clothing brands such as Desigual and Ashish. Harlow also made appearances in Glamour magazine, Complex and Cosmopolitan. Not to add, she was a cameo in Beyonce’s famous “Lemonade” music video. She continues to turn everything she touches to gold.
