After only two seasons, widely acclaimed series “Underground” has been canceled by WGN America.
WGNA’s parent company, Tribune Media, was bought out by Sinclair Broadcast Group which meant major changes for WGNA’s original programming.
The show’s creator, John Legend tweeted on May 30th, “WGN America has been bought and is going a different direction strategically. We will find a new home for #Underground!”
Feel free to drop some hints to the networks/streaming services you want to pick up #Underground. Show them who will be watching!

Sadly, money can get in the way of a show as critically acclaimed as “Underground”.
Legend tweeted shortly after, “Feel free to drop some hints to the networks/streaming
services you want to pick up #Underground. Show them who will be watching!”
Peter Kern, President and CEO of Tribune Media said, “Despite ‘Underground’ being a terrific and important series, it no longer fits with our new direction and we have reached the difficult decision not to renew it for a third season.”
Additionally, this cancellation comes just one month after WGN canceled “Outsiders”. Seemingly, it won’t be the end of “Underground”, but it is still a sad time for fans.
We want to hear what you #Underground fans think!
