Get Ready for Season 4 of “Snowfall” with this Recap

Franklin Saint is making a comeback on our screens ladies and gents. The highly anticipated fourth season of “Snowfall,” is finally here and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

Snowfall follows a young Black man, Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), making his way through the crack cocaine epidemic in 1983. Season one starts off with Franklin working at a local store and getting along with everyone in his community. Franklin has two close friends, Leon and Kevin. Franklin also has his mother, Aunt Louie, Uncle Jerome, and next-door neighbor, Melody, by his side.

In the beginning, Franklin was selling marijuana with his Uncle Jerome but, Franklin wasn’t making enough money from that, he needed something bigger, something better. Things changed when one of Franklin’s close friends, had asked him to help him with a cocaine deal. Franklin agrees and he meets Avi (Alon Atbutbul) a coke dealer. Avi gives Franklin some cocaine and tells him to sell it. Franklin was nervous and Avi knew he was throwing a little fish in a big pond. Little did Avi know that Franklin was going to grow this into an empire.

Snowfall may focus on Franklin but, we have other characters to worry about. We meet a CIA officer named Teddy (Carter Hudson) who is undercover trying to figure out everyone that is apart of selling this cocaine. Three other characters joined, Lucia Villanueva (Emily Rios), Gustavo (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), and Pedro (Filipe Valle Costa.) Lucia and Pedro are cousins and the two of them are adding coke to their family business as well. Gustavo ends up joining their cartel and becomes a big part of their family business. Pedro starts to become intimidated by his cousin and realizes that her power is starting to get to her head.

Wanting It All

Franklin got way better when it came to selling cocaine but, he wanted to make more money. Franklin saw someone with the rock of cocaine and he noticed that the Black people in his community wanted it. He asked someone how to make it, they taught him, and he started selling it throughout his community. This left a tremendous impact on the Black people in his community and Franklin’s next-door neighbor, Andre Wright, who’s an officer. Andre wasn’t too happy about that.

As season one started to wind down Franklin’s cocaine empire started to grow and he wanted more cocaine to sell. Franklin had everyone in on this business with him, except for his mother. His mother decided that she didn’t want Franklin staying at home if he was going to sell drugs like cocaine. No child wants to be separated from their parent but, if you want to live in your parent’s house, you have to abide by their rules. Franklin wanted to make money more than pleasing his mother. When season one ended, the rift between Franklin and his neighborhood had begun.

This Means War

Season two of Snowfall starts off hot! Franklin and everyone that associates with him and selling the cocaine are thriving. Kevin and Leon are in relationships and Franklin’s Uncle Jerome is getting his cut with selling the rock. Franklin even brought his best friends homes of their own. This season starts to spice up when one of Franklin’s buyers, Lucia, asks if Franklin can show her how to make the rock after she got caught up in a sticky situation. Franklin tells her no because he wants to keep the recipe a secret.

The story continues to bounce back and forth from different families and it goes to Lucia, Pedro, and Gustavo. During season one while Lucia was being the leader of her family business, her family realized her drive was starting to get to her head. Lucia wasn’t going to let her family stop her, not Pedro and not Pedro’s father. Ultimately, Lucia had a gang kill Pedro’s father, her uncle, to get everyone off of her back and so she could have control of the business. The gang affiliated with killing Lucia’s uncle wasn’t too happy with her. To get back in good graces with them, she promised she would have the recipe for the rock to make up all of her mistakes

Lucia couldn’t get the recipe from Franklin so she decides to ask Kevin. This wasn’t the best season for Kevin. His younger cousin was killed for selling drugs in unsolicited territory and Lucia knew the person that was responsible for killing Kevin’s cousin. The crazy thing about the situation is that Franklin knew who was responsible for killing Kevin’s cousin as well. However, Franklin knew if he told Kevin who committed the murders, Kevin would’ve ended up dead. Kevin was hesitant in giving Lucia the recipe but she provided the information of his cousin’s killer. He took the bait and gave Lucia the recipe.

Lucia got the recipe from Kevin and gave him the information on his cousin’s killer. Kevin knew who killed his cousin and where he was and he went to face his cousin’s killer. Franklin and Leon followed him and tried to convince him to change his mind but, it didn’t work. Right when Kevin was about to pull the trigger and change his life, Franklin pulled out his gun and accidentally shot his friend. Franklin’s intention was to scare his friend and make him drop the gun but, he ended up shooting one of his best friends and killing him.

Franklin found out in the worst way that he was responsible for killing one of his best friends. When he found out, police officers already knew his name and they were on the hunt for him. Season two ends with Franklin’s aunt and uncle planning a getaway for Franklin to go to New Orleans. Franklin knew before he left, he had to visit his mom and reassure her that everything would be okay. Just when Franklin was saying goodbye to his mother, officers seize him and arrest him for murdering Kevin.

Is This The End?

Season three started of real low with our protagonist being in jail and having to adapt to jail life. Outside of that Franklin’s family and friends were trying everything they could to get him out of this situation. Things started to look up for Franklin. He was able to get out of jail because Teddy, being in the CIA, put in a good word for him.

After Franklin’s release, he questions Teddy’s true intentions. Teddy told Franklin not to question him because he released him from jail, he can put him right back in. Season three continues with Franklin building his business and with Franklin fighting the system. Every season Franklin and his next-door neighbor, Andre’s, hatred for one another grew immensely. Andre couldn’t stand what Franklin was doing to the community and he didn’t want Franklin with his daughter Melody. Franklin wanted to make money and he wanted to be with Melody. He wasn’t going to let her father stop the two of them from being together.

As season three progresses the feud between Andre and Franklin explodes. Franklin goes to see Andre and a confrontation ignites between the two of them which leads to Franklin shooting and killing Andre, making it look like a suicide. Melody has been going through a lot. Being addicted to cocaine her father helping her get better, and leaving for Spelman College. When Mel started to catch wind of the situation, she knew Franklin was responsible for killing her father. After Andre’s funeral, Mel seeks revenge and finds Franklin and shoots him twice, hoping to kill him. Season three ends with Franklin left on the ground, bleeding out.

We have so many questions to ask after the season three finale. Did Franklin survive? What does this mean for him and Mel? Is Franklin going to go to jail again? We at MEF want to know too! We guess we’ll all find out this Wednesday, February 24th, at 10 p.m EST on FX.
