Dan Liu’s Spring/ Summer 2019 line was elegance and beauty personified. The show, which took place at The Shows at Gallery I at Spring Studios, has cemented what years of Liu’s work have demonstrated. Liu is a connoisseur of the cocktail dress.
The show opened up with the designer himself masked and performing a captivating samurai dance in striking red. However, even Liu in striking red could not outdo his cocktail dresses. Models strut their stuff in elegant and enchanting dresses.
The dresses were a clear ode to his Japanese heritage in their shape and style. He infused them with lace, beads, and plenty of floral patterns. The dresses ranged from simple black and short, to longer and more colorful dresses.
There was a cocktail dress for every occasion. As Liu continues his legacy we are eager to see how he manages to mix tradition with his unique modern flair.
