Rihanna and her Clara Lionel Foundation visited Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world, with Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education.
In a new short documentary, Rihanna, the icon and GPE ambassador, expresses her interest in learning more about the African nation and the how to combat the challenges it faces in the education sector. Malawi suffers from a lack of resources, which oftentimes leads to a disparaging number of children dropping out after primary school.
“It’s such a pity that they have to drop out because they are so smart,” Rihanna says. “And everybody is learning together and learning at the same pace it seems. It’s sad that has to end for some of them because they could probably do so much if they had the resources to continue and complete.”
In the video, Rih enters a classroom to help teach students math and sits down with community and global figures alike, all who are rallying together to help end poverty around the world and raise $3.1 billion USD for those efforts.
