The lovely, and elegant, Kerry Washington is a honoree of the Women Making History Award.
Kerry Washington is one of three recipients of the annual Women Making History Award given by the National Women’s History Museum. The museum announces honorees in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. The other two recipents are Instagram COOO, Marne Levine, and SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell.
The awards aim to celebrate achievements made by influential women. Yet, the beautiful thing about this award is that its recipients come from all kinds of paths in life. If they can do it, anyone can!
The three women will be honoree’s at a brunch in Beverly Hills this upcoming September. Acknowledging the achievement of these three women involvement in “philanthropic endeavors that support young women.”
The chairman, Susan Whiting said that Washington is an honoree for her phenomenal, breakout role s a black public relations lawyer on the iconic show, Scandal. Of “We are extremely proud to honor three women with such innovative and extensive bodies of work. Kerry Washington broke barriers by becoming the first African-American woman to headline a network TV drama since 1974,” said Whitting on the actress’ role as Olivia Pope on Scandal.
“We must see each other, all of us and we must see ourselves, all of us and we have to continue to be bold and break new ground until this is how it is, until we are no longer ‘firsts’ and ‘exceptions’ and ‘rare’ and ‘unique.’ In the real world, being an ‘other’ is the norm. In the real world, the only norm is uniqueness and our media must reflect that.- Kerry Washington”
Although, Scandal is tapping their seventh, and final season. We are so proud of Washington! Can’t wait to see what’s next.
