Buy Back The Block
“Buy back the block” is Amanda Scott’s goal of buying 100 houses in marginalized black communities. The phrase is a play on “buy black”. Scott is essentially buying houses in minority neighborhoods as opposed to suburban areas with lots of value in equity, and reinvesting in communities that already exist. She is taking the opportunity to invest in communities that investors may not choose to invest in because of the low-income levels, crime, or poverty. Scott chooses to destigmatize these stereotypes by seeing these communities as opportunity zones. Through investing, fueling, and rebuilding, Amanda hopes to uplift disadvantaged black communities as opposed to turning her back on them. Recently, Scott bought her first home in her native city of Los Angeles. Working to meet her goal of buying 100 houses, Scott is currently looking to buy real estate in the south.
The Kollection
This year one of Amanda’s goals is to expand her luxury lash line The Kollection. Launched in July of 2021, The Kollection is co-founded by Scott and her cousin Kinny. It initially started as a solution to Scott’s problem finding long-lasting high-quality lashes, Scott sought to correct the problem herself. Making The Kollection a luxury lash line, Scott provides a luxury experience to its clientele. The brand’s slogan “luxury lifestyle lashes” seeks to normalize luxury lifestyle within its clients. Scott defines luxury as:
The freedom to do as you wish.

The Kollection offers a variety of high-quality lashes that can be worn more than 10 times. Fit for full-glam to natural makeup looks, The Kollection is for everyone.
Public Relations
With a lifelong goal of one day starting her PR agency called “A Scott PR”, Scott wants to represent clientele that may not feel like they’re not big enough to have PR or do not have the resources. A focal point for “A Scott’s PR” is to incorporate financial education and financial literacy within its agency. Educating youth and college students about the importance of finance and investing early. Having worked with HBCU’s to educate on financial literacy this is a personal and professional passion of Scotts. Hoping to one day be able to teach a financial literacy PR class at the very HBCU that she attended, Howard.
Using her knowledge and experience in PR, Scott looks forward to one day being a liaison for her community. After witnessing the change in the multicultural PR landscape following the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, companies have become more inclusive and increased support to marginalized communities. Scott wants to ensure that companies properly see the worth and value of multicultural audiences.
The intent is there now but, the execution is not always right on par. That’s why it’s really important to have people that look like me in the room to say no.
Amanda Scott
Scott is happy to be a part of the evolution and hopeful to see where the multicultural PR space grows in the future.
