We have all heard of spring cleaning — it’s a popular time of year when we deep clean our homes and get rid of things we no longer need. However, when was the last time your body, mind, and spirit had a deep clean? Spring is an excellent time to reassess your life and implement healthy spring lifestyle habits!
Whether you have goals you want to meet in mind or are ready to shake off the winter depression, there are several ways to make changes. Sometimes, the simplest adjustments can have a significant impact on your life. Here are five healthy spring lifestyle habits you should consider adopting beyond the season.
1. Get outside for at least 15 minutes a day.
Now that the weather is getting warmer, it is imperative to take advantage of the sun’s benefits. Not only can sunlight help you eliminate the winter scaries, but it is also good for your health. According to WebMD, spending at least 15 minutes in the sun can boost your mood, help you get a good night’s rest, and give your eyes a break from technology. If you plan to spend more time in the sun, use sunscreen!
2. Drink lots of water.
If you plan on having fun in the sun, it is vital that you drink water! Swapping sugary drinks for water can decrease acne and improve your skin. Also, drinking water can help you better digest your food and eliminate bacteria from your organs. Harvard Health states women should drink about 11.5 cups of water daily, while men need 15.5.
3. Create daily affirmations.
It is essential to care for your body and make improvements, but your mind and spirit deserve the same energy as well. Creating affirmations for yourself is one of the best healthy spring lifestyle habits to consider. Simply find a few affirmations that speak to you and your lifestyle. Before you start your day or go to bed, repeat the affirmations in the mirror.
4. Take social media breaks.
Although social media has several benefits, it also has its downsides. Spending too much time on apps can warp your sense of reality. Set aside an hour or two every day to spend away from social media and technology. If you need a longer break, delete the apps for a week or two.
5. Practice self-care.
Believe it or not, self-care is not just a trend. Taking care of yourself is important for your mental, emotional, and physical health. Aside from your usual hygiene routine of showering and washing your face, implement an activity that relaxes you. Run a bath, get a facial, or light candles and meditate. Find something that makes you feel good and leaves you ready to tackle the next day!
Healthy spring lifestyle habits may seem minuscule, but they are necessary for a new and improved you! Whichever habit you try, just make sure that it improves your life and makes you feel good!
