Each week we compose a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week! Don’t forget who put you on.
EARFQUAKE // Tyler, The Creator
In what seemed like a whirlwind of releases, Tyler, The Creator announced the release of his fifth studio album, IGOR a couple of days before its release. Tyler presented this record as a project he wrote and produced on his own, which put Twitter in a buzz. Yet, what shocked people most, was a track list that appeared to not include features. And even more shocking, the evolution of Tyler’s image. He has seemingly transformed from a lifeless timbre, into a blooming one. It makes it all the more interesting to watch because although his sound has evolved, his emotions have only become more honest. The song, EARFQUAKE, surprise features Playboi Carti. Its sound and lyrics are extravagantly relatable in every way. Although the album should be listened to in its entirety, as requested by The Creator, you should definitely start with this bop.
Daddi Daddi // Sydney Sam
You know we gotta put you on! Sydney Sam is an upcoming artist from Louisiana. Her first single, Daddi Daddi, is all the rage. There are wonderful elements of R&B, Reggae, and Afro-beats. This song has a great summer vibe, one that you shouldn’t let up. Take a listen!
Cash Shit // Megan Thee Stallion feat. DaBaby
Stallions! Fever is finally here! And this DaBaby feature is worth all the buzz. Cash Shit is effortlessly a lyrically sexy record. Meg and DaBaby conjoining have an endless amount of sex appeal. If in any case you don’t find yourself listening to all of Fever, you won’t be able to escape this track- it is after all, predictably the song of the summer!
Lavida // D’Prince and Rema
D’Prince and Rema have teamed up to give us the Afro-Beat bop of the summer! Although the track was released at the beginning of this month, the visuals put the sonics into motion. This tune is a vibe you want to dive into, it provides all the sultry summer heat you need.
Just Us // DJ Khaled feat. SZA
After what seemed like an abundance of video/photo snippets for Just Us, we finally were able to hear the track when Father of Asahd was released. This record showcases DJ Khaled’s ability to stray from his usual sound while showcasing SZA’s vocal ability. The lyrical message is one that’ll have you straight in your bag.
