Friday night is busy for the music industry. It is April, so artists are dropping music in anticipation of their track being crowned the song of the summer. There are lots of requirements to qualify as the song of the summer. The requirements are more like preferences unique to individuals that happen to align if the masses are feeling the same way.
Erica Banks entered the competition for song of the summer over the weekend with her song, “Ain’t Got Time,” produced by Mr. Hank. It has an upbeat tempo that Banks rides with memorable phrases like Beyonce‘s, “Can he handle this? I don’t think he can handle this.”
Banks has been an unstoppable force since the age of 12. She dropped her first mixtape in 2019. Shortly after, Banks was signed to the 1501 Certified Entertainment label by Carl Crawford.
Banks’ song, “Buss It,” was a catalyst for her career. The hit went viral on social media and reached No. 25 on the iTunes US Songs Chart.
“Ain’t Got Time” is another plate Banks cleans and leaves no crumbs on. She eats bar after bar, then follows with a rhythmic hook that can easily be engraved into any person’s memory banks. Another layer to this song lies beneath the surface with a message of empowerment for people, especially women, to reclaim their time, be in control of their time, and how their time is invaluable.
“Ain’t Got Time” is a fun addition to the summer playlist and a strong contender for song of the summer!
