HAPPY AFRICA DAY!
On May 25, we celebrate Africa Day! 🌍 Africa is known for being a rich continent in areas such as materials, languages, traditions, food, and music. Africa has been a huge inspiration for other cultures and still is today. The new generation of African designers is highlighting their African heritage. Indeed, they all have a common point: They bring a new thing into the fashion industry. Here are 4 talented designers who highlight their African heritage through their wonderful work. Enjoy! 💕
1. ANIFA MVUEMBA: FOUNDER AND DESIGNER OF HANIFA
The first designer on the list is Anifa Mvuemba! Anifa is a 30-year-old Congolese-American and founder of the fashion brand, Hanifa. Anifa has always been passionate about fashion. She first started in the industry designing clothes for herself. As a result of her talent, she began to receive more orders. Her life went to another level in May 2020, when she launched her collection “Pink Label Congo”. Her 3D virtual show was a moment for the fashion industry because of the digital catwalk and curvy, invisible models.
Hanifa is a feminine, elegant and colorful brand that includes all types of shapes and we love it Celebrities seen wearing Hanifa pieces include Tracee Ellis Ross, Lizzo, and Zendaya. Hanifa even pays tribute to her home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo throughout different pieces. We love to see a Black woman bringing new things to the table and we are here for it! Anifa Mvuemba has definitely left her print in the fashion industry and we celebrate her! 🙌🏾
