Last week, Christian Dior showcased its 2018 Cruise Resort Collection at their unusual runway show. The show took place on a remote mountaintop in Calabasas, California. The location was also where movies like MASH, Little House on the Prairie, and Gone With the Wind were filmed.
Guests were brought to the location by ATV and seated in tents on each side of the dirt runway. Hot air balloons swayed in the background and there was a faint light from the sun setting behind the hills in the distance. The stars were also out for the night. Some famous celebrities that made an appearance include Rihanna, Jhene Aiko, Charlize Theron, and Brie Larson. The casual but stunning setting was perfect for the western-chic collection.
According to Vogue Magazine, the collection was inspired by founders, Monsieur Christian Dior’s fascination with 20,000-year-old Lascaux cave paintings. Current designer of the brand, Chiuri, created her own version of the primitive aesthetics. Her unique new collection is said to be “mystical” and “otherworldly.”
