Can we all take a minute and acknowledge Cardi B’s come up!!
The Bronx rapper’s single “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” cracks the top 10 this week, rising from No. 14 to No. 8.
This makes Bardi the first female rapper to enter the top 10 with a debut entry on the chart since Iggy Azalea did so with her Charli XCX-assisted “Fancy” back in 2014.
The single now has the highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a female rapper since Nicki Minaj‘s “Anaconda” track from 2014.
In 2014, Nicki’s “Anaconda” single peaked at No. 2 on the chart, which was the highest-charting song for an unaccompanied female rapper with no guest features. With “Bodak Yellow” climbing the charts, it’s definitely possible for Cardi to take that number one spot.
The smash hit first appeared on the Billboard charts a month ago and has already had massive success. It’s also the number one song on Apple Music across all genres! Congrats Cardi!!
