Cardi B and Offset’s relationship has been nothing short of a tumultuous whirlwind over the past few years. From their high-profile proposal and pregnancies to multiple cheating scandals and their eventual split in December 2023, their marriage has always been at the forefront of the media.
The “I Like It” rapper confirmed her split from the former Migos on Dec. 11 while on Instagram Live. “I’ve been single for a minute now, but I have been afraid to, like – not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world,” she said.
“The last time I got on live, I kind of wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how to tell you, so I changed my mind. But it has been like this for a minute now. I just took it as a sign.”

Jan. 20, 2017: Cardi B Releases “Lick” With Offset
The future couple collaborated on their first single together in early 2017. With both of their careers starting to take off, it was only natural for the stars to team up. The song “Lick” was featured on her mixtape, Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2, which she released on Jan. 20, 2017.
Feb. 5, 2017: Cardi B and Offset Have Their First Date at the Super Bowl
The two artists sparked romance rumors when they were spotted on a date at the 2017 Super Bowl. On probably one of the most legendary dates a woman could ask for, Offset decided to go big or go home.
“My first date, I went big,” Offset said during an appearance on The Tonight Show via People in 2021. I wanted to do something that was not normally done, you know what I’m saying? I wanted to have fun…so I took her to the Super Bowl.”
Cardi was initially shy about such a very public first date, not wanting to be made a fool of.
“I told my publicist to tell him because I was very shy, ‘Listen, if we’re gonna go on a public date together, you cannot make me look like a dumba*s after this,'” Cardi said to GQ.
Things quickly heated up between the two after that, and they were suddenly primed as the industry’s newest “It” couple.
October 27, 2017: Offset Pops the Question to Cardi
During a sold-out show in Philadelphia, Offset dropped down on one knee to ask for the Bronx rapper’s hand in marriage, proposing with a $500,000 teardrop-shaped ring.
“I can’t wait to spend FOREVAAAA with you,” Cardi wrote on Instagram following the proposal. “Let’s make a lot shmoney and love together.”
Little did the world know, the couple had already secretly wed a month before.
Dec. 24, 2017: Offset is Accused of Cheating
Video footage surfaced of Offset apparently with another naked woman in a hotel. The rapper claimed his iCloud was hacked. A few days later, a model named Celine Powell came forward, claiming she was pregnant. However, the couple denied the rumors, even though Cardi was spotted without her ring during a New Year’s Eve public appearance.
April 7, 2018: Cardi Announces That She and Offset are Expecting
After much speculation, Cardi announced that she and Offset were expecting their first child together in true dramatic form. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took the Saturday Night Live stage to perform “Be Careful,” flaunting her baby bump in all its glory.
June 25, 2018: Offset Refers to Cardi as His Wife at the BET Awards
Offset had social media in a frenzy when he referred to Cardi as his wife at the 2018 BET Awards. Cardi happily confirmed the news on Twitter via People: “One morning in September, we woke up and decided to get married…I said I do with no dress, no makeup, and no ring!…at least you can stop saying I had a baby out of wedlock.”
July 10, 2018: Kulture Kiari Cephus is Born
Cardi and Offset welcomed their first child together, Kulture Kiari Cephus. She announced the news on Instagram with a nude maternity shoot surrounded by flowers.

Cardi took to Instagram to announce that she and the “Clout” rapper had called it quits. “We got a lot of love for each other, but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time,” she said.

Sept. 4, 2021: The Couple Welcomed Their Son Wave

June 26, 2023: Cardi Responds to Offset’s Cheating Accusation
In a since deleted Instagram post, Offset accused Cardi of cheating on him. Cardi later responded in a Twitter (X) Space, singing the lyrics to Keyshia Cole’s “I Should Have Cheated.” Offset later confirmed in an interview with Angela Yee that his wife, in fact, did not cheat on him.
“That’s my wife. I love her to death…We were going back and forth, and I was like, watch this.”
Dec. 4, 2023: The Rappers Unfollow Each Other on Instagram
The couple seemed to hit a snag in their relationship, and both unfollowed each other on Instagram. The “Press” rapper posted cryptic messages to her Instagram story, signaling relationship problems.
“You know when you just outgrow relationships,” she wrote, adding, “I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings… I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST.”
Dec. 11, 2023: Cardi Confirms Split from Offset
Cardi took to Instagram Live to confirm that she is definitely single. She had been dropping hints for days on her social media with various telling messages. A few days later, the rapper took to IG live again in a heated and emotional state as she called out her husband. A saddened Cardi expressed to her followers in a video captured by The Neighborhood Talk.
“He likes to play games with me because he knows I’m not an easy girl.”
