Take our money now! In a page that has now been taken down from Ticketmaster, Brandy and Monica may be fulfilling every 90s lover’s dream by going on a joint tour. The since-deleted link showed that artists Kelly Rowland and Muni Long would be joining the R&B titans as special guests on the tour. The alleged tour is set to kick off on Nov. 13 in North Carolina, with presales beginning on May 28.
Screenshots ran rampant on X/Twitter as fans frantically searched for answers about the validity of the rumors. No one from the ladies’ camp has confirmed or denied them, but fans have been wanting this for so long.
A Duet That Defined a Generation
Brandy and Monica’s 1998 duet “The Boy Is Mine” has been a staple and beloved R&B classic for decades. Since their collaboration, the divas have reunited multiple times over the years, delivering another smash duet and sitting down for a show-stopping Verzuz battle in 2020. Most recently, the two reconnected for Ariana Grande’s “The Boy Is Mine” remix from Grande’s latest album Eternal Sunshine.
This isn’t the first time that talk of a tour between the two has been discussed. After the success of Ariana Grande’s “The Boy Is Mine” remix, Brandy’s brother Ray J urged the two to embark on a tour together in multiple interviews. Brandy has also expressed her desire for the two to team up on multiple ventures, from a potential residency to a tour.
Behind-the-Scenes Tension or Media Mix-Up?
Monica, however, addressed Ray J in a social media post, asking him to stop discussing a tour, as she had been receiving multiple calls regarding his interviews. The “For You I Will” singer stated, “I’ve not received any contracts or calls about said tour,” she said. “@rayj I’m kindly asking you to stop speaking on me in public! A private conversation would both be necessary and respectful! Brandy is a LEGEND! She’s one with an extensive back catalog that I deeply respect and a voice sent from heaven.”
Although neither Brandy nor Monica has commented on the Ticketmaster slip-up, we can only hope that the rumored announcement becomes a reality. Fans are eager for the chance to see the two share the stage once again, and adding Kelly Rowland and Muni Long to the party would be the cherry on top of an unforgettable music event.
