Kith is known for their eclectically innovative style and unique stores. According to Kith’s website they are, “a multifunctional lifestyle brand for both men and women, and a progressive retail establishment.” Multifunctional because Kith makes clothes to be used. Ronnie Fieg and Kith conceive clothes that make real life stand out.
Before Kith, Fieg was just a kid from Queens working in his cousin, Said Z’s store. Teenaged Feig admired his cousin’s reputation and status, and learned the business as he rose in the ranks at David Z. After his time with David Z, he began his own journey by partnering with Sam Ben-Avraham to start the Kith journey.
Ben-Avraham and Feig opened Kith’s flagship storefront in Manhattan in 2011; closely followed by the opening of the Brooklyn location. Feig would nurture collaborations with brands like Asics over popular streetwear brands to combine utility and quality with style. After years of revered releases, increasing pop-up shop success, and a flourishing fan base, both locations were expanded upon and renovated. In 2015 Fieg combines his childhood love for cereal with his knack for apparel in the opening of Brooklyn’s first cereal bar. Yes, you read that right. Kith Treats is one of Fieg’s many unique innovations.
Kith’s most recent line, Aspen 2018, is a skier’s dream, and a winter fashionista’s muse. The collection features a full spectrum of color from pastels to brights along with a sneaker collab with Adidas. With shoe design being where Fieg got his start the sneakers in this line are naturally functional, fashionable and undeniably Kith. They have thick, defined treads because they are made for the snow. This detail makes them functional because Kith clothes are not just made for looks they have a purpose. However, for one hoping to wear these one the city streets instead of the slopes the thick tread is a statement for sure, and adds a platform effect to the shoe.
If you love layering, you’ll love Aspen 2018. Kith thought of everything from t-shirts to puffer jackets, snowboards to beanies. As a true artist Feig left no stone unturned in this winter collection. He gave you apparel and gear. The snowboards and goggles are not generic, they include just as much thought and design as the clothes, and a recurring theme in the clothes is that they are unisex. One of our favorite trends is that of androgyny. Kith clothes can be worn by any gender and look great because Kith is for the people.
