College basketball star Angel Reese rose to fame when she transferred from the University of Maryland to Louisana State University (LSU) in 2022. Dubbed the “Bayou Barbie,” she garnered many fans when she helped lead LSU to a national championship in 2023. Not to mention, support for the baller skyrocketed once fans learned that Angel Reese and Florida State University player Cam’Ron Fletcher were an item. After all, everyone loves to see young Black love blossom.
Unfortunately, things have been shaky for the baller in the love department in 2024. Rumors of trouble in paradise have swirled online regarding Reese’s relationship with Fletcher. And in March 2024, Angel Reese confirmed the rumors by announcing her split from the FSU star.
Reese began dating Fletcher in June 2023. The LSU basketball player confirmed their relationship on the “1 Star Recruits” podcast, stating that they met six years ago and were friends before dating. She also mentioned that their shared interest in basketball drew them together and allowed them to have similar schedules.
Following the relationship announcement, the two were candid about their courtship on social media. They traveled together and supported each other’s sporting events. The pair took a leap of faith and tattoed each other’s names. As their relationship progressed, they noticeably became more quiet. Fans began to speculate the relationship ended when Reese’s Instagram was scrubbed of photos of the pair.
Angel Reese confirms that she and Cam’Ron Fletcher have gone their separate ways.
During an Instagram live session with her fans, Reese confirms her split from Fletcher. On Mar. 19, 2024, Reese hopped on the ‘gram for a Q&A. As expected, viewers asked if she and Cam’Ron were still an item, and she announced what most folks believed.
“Yeah, I’m single. I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man,” Reese shared. “That’s all I am going to say. That’s it.”
While Reese knows she is a hot commodity in the dating market, she is not necessarily looking to date so soon after ending the relationship.
She continued: “I’m the catch! Let’s not get it twisted.”
It is unclear why the two broke up, as neither has publicly stated why. Reese posted a TikTok video in which she lip-synced a portion of Jhene Aiko’s song “The Worst.” Viewers assumed this was a direct shot at Fletcher.
The FSU guard did not make a public statement at the time, per TheShadeRoom. However, Fletcher seemingly responded to Reese’s TikTok by posting his own video. He lip-synced August Alsina’s track “No Love” featuring Nicki Minaj, seemingly expressing his feelings after the breakup.
The Bayou Barbie is still that girl!
Although Reese and Fletcher’s relationship did not work out, she has accomplished many things. Before becoming a star college basketball player, Reese was named a McDonald’s All-American and No. 2 in her class by ESPN. She broke many records at LSU, including the most double-doubles in a single season. Reese was also named the SEC Player of the Year during her senior year.
Reese is a star on and off the court, and her bag is heavy! As a relatable and young Black woman, many fans have begun to follow Reese and her career. Reese’s growing popularity has led to her securing many endorsements and brand deals, making her one of the highest-earning college athletes, especially among women’s athletes.
Reese is only 21 years old but stands to become one of the biggest women’s basketball stars of her generation. She not only has a fun-loving personality, but her talent on the court speaks for itself. We anticipate greater things on the horizon for Angel Reese.
