Adut Akech is continuing her reign over the fashion industry, most recently being nominated for model of the year in the 2018 British Fashion Awards. The 18- year- old Australian model has become an overnight sensation, closing multiple shows this season for Chanel and Valentino among others. Other models featured in the category are Adwoa Aboah and Winnie Harlow.
Akech started modeling at the age of 12 and signed with Chadwick models at the age of 16. After closing the Spring/Summer ’17 Saint Laurent show in Paris, Akech became highly sought after.
Nominees for this year’s model of the year category are three-fifths black. Previous winners of the highly coveted category include Adwoa Aboah and Jourdan Dunn. Adut was the only new addition to category.
Other categories included in this year’s awards are Designer of the year, Brand of the year, and Business leader among others.
The 2018 British Fashion awards will take place Dec. 10 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
