Work It was the first single from Missy’s sophomore album, Under Construction, released in 2002. With unforgettable lines like “If you’re a fly gal, get your nails done, get a pedicure, get your hair did!”, this song brings back that nostalgic feeling. Work It has stood the test of time and continues to be a classic!
2. Sean Paul – Gimme The Light
Sean Paul’s first hit track, Gimme The Light, was a big success for the Jamaican Dancehall performer. From the catchy bass to the great choreography. Thanks to this jam, summers in the year 2000 were hot!
3. Brandy – What About Us?
When it comes to her phenomenal vocals, Brandy could do no wrong. “What About Us? “was the lead single from her third album Full Moon, and everything about this video screams y2k.
4. Destiny’s Child – Bootylicious
Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child was an instant hit in 2001, thanks to those catchy lyrics like “I don’t believe you’re ready for this jelly” and their melodious harmonization that just wouldn’t quit. How can you not love this song!
5. Snoop Dogg Feat. Pharrell Williams – Beautiful
Everyone say “Oh, oh, oh, oh/yeah, yeah, yeah!” Throughout 2003, this popular hit was that tune. With Pharrell Williams’ and Uncle Charlie’s lovely vocals, it became, in a nutshell, the 2003 theme song.
6. P. Diddy Feat. Usher & Loon – I Need A Girl Part 1
This song was really captivating due to the collaboration with Usher and Loon. This song had a stronghold on us and continues to do so. It makes you want to press the rewind button and go back in time.
7. Nelly Feat. Kelly Rowland – Dilemma
Dilemma was a great duet success and Nelly’s first single in nations such as the UK, Ireland, Australia, and others. It was a huge hit from Nelly’s Nellyville and Kelly Rowland’s Simply Deep albums. This song is just as good today as it was 20 years ago, and the video, with its sought-after looks, are equally ioconic.
8. Kelly Rowland – Stole
Stole, a single from Kelly Rowland’s debut album Simply Deep, showed her versatility. This song has aged beautifully, giving us a mix of Pop Rock and RnB.
9. Mario – Just A Friend
After the release of this song, Mario seemed to be every girl’s crush. Mario put his own spin on the Biz Markie song “Just A Friend” and nailed it. This song was a smash, and it’s still going strong in 2022.
10. Ashanti – Foolish
Lastly, Foolish was Ashanti’s debut single that really transcended her career. This record was not only a big hit, but it was also a song that a lot of people could relate to and that they still play today.
