It’s finally that time of year. The sun is out just like us, and the temperature is rising. Hard to find an outfit when you’d rather wear nothing? Well, we are here to help and let you know what to wear when it’s hot enough to fry an egg outside.
There are ways to dress for the heat and still look fashionable. It may seem impossible at times when you feel like the number one priority is to cool off, but you just need a couple of good tips. When dressing up, keep in mind what’s most comfortable for you. From your head to your toes, figure out what you are comfortable showing because its summer and the sun wants to kiss your skin.
We’ll start off by layering what to wear. You have to have the basics. Depending on where you are in the world, the day may start out hot then end cool. If you’re headed to one specific place where the a/c is on blast, go for a simple shirt shorts combo. A lightweight button down or cardigan is easy to take on and off. But if you plan on being outside for more than an hour, step one – sunscreen, step two, let it out. Micro mini skirts are all the rage. ‘Skirts should be as short as a belt’. Try it out with a tank or baby tee for a nod to Y2K.
For the ultimate breathability, try a dress. If you’re going for a more formal look, a silk material always exudes elegance. There are plenty length and fabric variations that can keep your legs both cool and in style. However, if you want to wear pants, dont worry it’s possible. Once again the material matters, go for the classics, cotton and linen.
And you can’t forget shoes! Say what you want about crocs but you will see them a lot this time of year. With the optional mule styling and perforations, a pair of ankle crocs will keep those feet cool and comfy (especially with your favorite gibbits). A good collaboration with crocs are the Salehe Bembury pair, if you can still find them at a decent resale price. A simple sandal and single strap heel always does the trick as well.
Just because it’s hot outside doesn’t mean you can’t throw in any accessories. Don’t dare ignore your head. Try a scarf on to give your outfit a little pop. A cap can shade you from the sun and add a street style element. Don’t forget a bag. Both extremes are in, a big body or a mini to hold the lipgloss. And remember, even if it’s blazing outside, your fashion choices still matter.
