Starboy Reaches New Heights

Don’t you know that he’s a Starboy?

While some fans seem to be missing the darker, more emo side of The Weeknd, the Toronto star is doing damn good. The Weeknd is currently the ONLY artist to go platinum TWICE, in the last year.

The Weeknd’s third studio album,Star Boy, has surpassed the 2 million records sold and streamed mark, earning it a platinum status. The album sold 348,000 units during its first week of sales and landed the number one spot on Billboard. Billboard noted that Starboy was the third biggest album of the year behind “Views” and “Lemonade”.

The singles The Weeknd released from the album have also been doing amazingly well. “Reminder,” “Party Monster,” “I Feel It Coming,” and the album tittle, “Starboy” have all gone platinum. “Starboy” went platinum five times, “I Feel It Coming” went platnium twice “Party Monster” and “Reminder” both went platinum once.

The Weeknd also received recognition for having more than 35 million RIAA song awards over the past five years.

“RIAA recently recognized the unparalleled success of The Weeknd’s album “Starboy” as well as the artist’s prolific career notching 11 Platinum or multi-Platinum certified songs during the last five years. The Weeknd is the only artist to earn a 2X multi-Platinum album released in the last year that also includes four Platinum (or higher) songs. The “Starboy” single is 5X multi-Platinum, “I Feel It Coming” 2X multi-Platinum and “Party Monster” and “Reminder” are both Platinum. Additionally, The Weeknd received recognition for more than 35 million RIAA Song Awards achieved in just five years.” ??????
