New York Liberty center Nyara Sabally is set to make a heartfelt return to the University of Oregon’s Matthew Knight Arena on May 12, as the Liberty face off against Japan’s Toyota Antelopes in a preseason exhibition game.
Nyara Sabally played a pivotal role in Oregon’s basketball success before being drafted fifth overall by the Liberty in 2022. She will be reuniting on the court with former Oregon teammate Sabrina Ionescu, adding even more excitement to the game. She expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming matchup: “I am super excited to have this preseason game in Eugene. I never thought I was going to be able to play on that court and in front of our amazing Duck fans again.”
The exhibition is part of a growing trend where WNBA teams schedule preseason games at their players’ alma maters, strengthening the bond between collegiate programs and professional franchises.
Tickets for the game will be available through Ticketmaster, with presales starting on March 11 at 9 a.m. PT and public sales on March 12 at 9 a.m. PT.
Sabally’s return to Oregon is more than just a game—it’s a homecoming for one of the Ducks’ brightest stars. So will you be tuning in or catching the action live? Drop your thoughts in the comments! ???
