Since birth, North West has been making headlines and is a constant figure in popular culture. From calling out the paparazzi as a toddler to her shady moments documented on Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” the preteen continues to capture the world’s attention. As the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, it’s no surprise that she has acquired a personal style like no other 11-year-old. While staying child-appropriate, she has managed to push the boundaries of children’s fashion.
Growing up in the public eye can be difficult, especially when facing ridicule. However, North has continued to remain authentic to herself and express her personality how she sees fit. In honor of her 11th birthday on June 15, 2024, here are five of North West’s best fashion moments.
1. Stepping out for the 2023 Met Gala.
Often accompanying her mom to major events, North always presents something new. Although she could not walk the red carpet, she still made a fashion statement at the 2023 Met Gala. Following the theme and honoring Karl Lagerfeld, the then 9-year-old wore a Chanel-inspired tweed jacket with pearls and jewelry to match. She paired the jacket with a simple white tee, baggy jeans, and a champagne-hued clutch.
2. Serving courtside-chic with her mom.
While attending the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors Western Conference Semifinal Playoff game in 2023, North dressed in tomboy-chic fashion. She pulled out her famous baggy jeans and paired them with a motorcycle jacket, a Lakers jersey underneath, and Nike low dunks. The comfy-meets-trendy outfit perfectly complemented her mother’s Lakers-inspired ensemble.
3. Making a statement at the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture show with her mom.
In one of her most popular outfits, North stole the show while attending the Jean Paul Haute Couture Fall Winter 2022/2023 show during Paris Fashion Week. As usual, she coordinated with her mother while wearing a steampunk-inspired outfit. She sported a pinstriped vest and pleated skirt set with bulky black boots. For accessories, the preteen donned dark sunglasses and a chain-linked nose ring to complete the look.
4. Styling with her grandmother in Paris.
Punk styles are seemingly a favorite for the 11-year-old! During the 2022–2023 Paris Fashion Week season, North hit the town with her grandmother, Kris Jenner. She stepped out in a black graphic T-shirt, black baggy jeans, and steel-toed chunky boots. She topped the look off with necklaces and sunglasses, making it one of North West’s best fashion moments.
5. Matching her mother’s fly in Paris.
North may seem to be a big fan of black and muted clothing, but there was a time when the preteen would be seen playing with color. In 2020, she was seen in Paris with her mom, wearing an orange ensemble that consisted of a jumpsuit, orange and black sneakers, and a Dries Van Noten faux fur coat to match. Now, this is what we call tween-chic!
As North gets older, her style continues to evolve. Luckily, her parents allow her the creative freedom to try new things — while donning child-appropriate clothing, of course. It remains unclear what path North will take with her career, but she indeed has a future in fashion.
