The hip-hop world is heating up! An ongoing beef between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion finally reached a head. After years of subliminal shots and social media rants, the two have released diss tracks to express their thoughts. But how did their beef get here?
On Jan. 26, 2024, MTS released her new single, “HISS.” The song seemingly took shots at several people, including Drake and her ex-boyfriend Pardison Fontaine. She also had many bars pointed at Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting her in the foot. Fans speculate that the rapper also took a major shot at Minaj.
In 2019, MTS and Nicki collaborated on the hit single “Hot Girl Summer.” Both of the rapper’s fans were ecstatic to see them collaborate. A seasoned female rapper working with a hip-hop newcomer was exciting. Unfortunately, their newfound friendship began to unravel after their joint single.
What did Megan do to make her this mad?
After listening to MTS’ single, “HISS,” Nicki Minaj immediately took to X, formerly Twitter. She posted many tweets addressing the song. Minaj mainly took offense to one bar.
“These h*es don’t be mad at Megan, these h*es mad at Megan’s Law,” Megan rapped.
Megan’s Law requires law enforcement agencies to make the public aware of sex offenders. It also requires those who have been convicted of sex crimes to register for the sex offenders list. Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, received a three-year probation sentence in 2022 after he failed to register as a sex offender when moving to a new home in California.
Was it actually a “Hot Girl Summer?”
In the massive amount of tweets posted by Minaj after the “Hiss” release, she stated that MTS tried to force-feed her alcohol. This upset Minaj, who, at the time, was trying to conceive. Allegedly, MTS replied, saying that if she is pregnant, she should get an abortion.
Apparently, the feud began then. X users have also pointed out that this is not the first time MTS has seemingly sent shots toward the “Super Bass” rapper. According to X user @Q4quise, the Houston native dissed Nicki for the first time in her verse on Bankroll Freddie’s song “Pop It.”
Minaj responded with her song “Seeing Green,” and then MTS released “Thot Shit,” which fans believe to be a clap back at the Trinidadian native.

After many X rants and Instagram Lives with “Roman,” her alter ego, Minaj released a response to Megan. Whereas MTS seemingly used one bar to jab at the 42-year-old, Minaj dedicated the entire song “Big Foot” to dissing the Grammy Award-winner. Nicki Minaj’s response hit heavy, referencing MTS’ deceased mother, her height, her love life, and the shooting incident with Tory Lanez.
MTS’ has not responded to Minaj’s social media posts or the song. Her only posts have been to promote “Hiss” and the coinciding music video. On Jan. 26, 2024, MTS spoke to Charlemagne Tha God and DJ Envy on “The Breakfast Club” about the “Hiss” release.
The rapper had little to say on the show except for, “A hit dog is going to holler.”
Since then, Minaj and MTS stans have been at each other’s throats online. And of course, people who are fans of both women, are simply waiting to see how this rap beef evolves. After all, this is the first time in a long time that two talented women in rap are going head-to-head.
