If I say Canada, you say? Did you say cold? Are you talking about the weather or the fashion? Because designers from the Vancouver Fashion Week Collective are bringing icy fits to the NYFW runway with the Global Fashion Show.
Adam-Lin Bungag, Lillzkillz (Lillea Goia), Nozomi Kuwahara and Kim Tiziana Rottmuller are four names you can add to your list of Canada favorites, right next to Drake.
If there was one show to attend to get the essence of NYFW, the Global Fashion Show (GBS) Collective was the perfect pick.
Hosted at the renowned Piers59 Studio, the GBS was a hub for eccentric style, excited frenzy, and palpable confidence. The crowd was telling of the show: a spectacle of colors and unique looks.
The minimalist white stage A of the Piers59 Studio stood as a blank canvas for the different designers to create a world of their own.
NOT DEAD YET by Adam-Lin Bungag:
A voyage between street style and goth-fashion. Not Dead Yet is the everyday wear that will make you stand out anywhere. The emphasis on asymmetric cuts and large fits are meant to “explore identity and sexuality” as Bungag puts it. The unisex brand is a must-have to an edgy look.
PROFANITY by Lillzkillz, Lillea Goian:
Think Alice in Wonderland meets the Matrix, but fashion. Profanity is a palette of colors with eccentric accessories that bring to life an avant-garde aesthetic. Forget the rules. Color-blocking and clashing fabrics are the key elements to owning the Profanity look.
NOZOMI KUWAHARA:
The vibrant collection displays classic cuts and colorful fabrics which tie together as a rainbow of wearable, yet unique looks. Kuwahara is a playful and young everyday wear. Going to Disneyland as an adult and enjoying it more than you did as the kid, that’s the spirit.
KIM TIZIANA ROTTMULLER:
Rottmuller offers a perfect agency of surrealistic and feminine wear with her avant-garde looks. Voluminous details, color thematics, and eye-catching pieces. The boldness screams runway and is sure to steal the show.
