New year, new collaborations! NBA legend Dwyane Wade is Versace’s muse in the brand’s new eyewear campaign.
In promo shots for the Spring/Summer 2024 line, the retired basketball player dons three gold-detailed frames that introduce the new project, Versace Files. The goal of the project is to go beyond the brand and provide personal insight into the campaign stars. As such, Versace asked Wade to profile himself with items near and dear to his heart. The 42-year-old included a photo of his daughter Kaavia, a camera, and his first NBA championship ring.
“I’m proud to be part of the Versace family, and I’m excited to launch my second eyewear collection with a campaign that’s personal and meaningful,” Wade stated via Versace. “Completing your look is all about the details, and the new collection reinforces the importance of eyewear as an outfit’s finishing touch.”
The menswear eyewear collection features sunglasses and eyeglasses that are equally functional and practical. Each frame is unique yet authentic to the Versace brand. Fit for Wade’s classic good looks and versatile style, the glasses are innovative, much like the face of the campaign.
Dwyane Wade is a favorite at the House of Versace.
This campaign marks Wade’s second campaign with the fashion house. The mogul made his Versace debut in February 2023. The brand, run by Donatella Versace, has supported the father-of-five before the men’s eyewear campaign. On several occasions, Wade sported multiple Versace items, proving to be a true fan of the luxury fashion house.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wade wore a Versace suit to his induction to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. In addition, the 42-year-old wore Versace to the Met Gala in 2022, which had fans swooning.
His relationship with Versace continues to grow as they are aligned as activists for the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, Wade maintains a massive respect for Donatella Versace.
“Donatella is such an inspiration in that way,” Wade told The Hollywood Reporter. “She’s been at the top of her game since the start.”
This is not Dwyane Wade’s first or last campaign.
Although he is no longer on the court, Wade continues to make a lasting impression. Before and after his retirement, Wade has been the face of several campaigns.
In 2007, Wade scored several endorsement deals. He designed a shoe with Converse and released a line of T-Mobile Sidekick phones. The 42-year-old has also worked with Jordan, Gatorade, Staples, and Nike. After parting ways with the latter in 2012, Wade became the face of his own shoe in collaboration with the Chinese shoe line Li-Ning. He inked a 10-year deal with the shoe company, creating the collection, “Way of Wade.”
In 2018, Li-Ning offered the mogul a lifetime deal. Since then, Wade has presented Los Angeles Lakers player D’Angelo Russell with his own shoe.
In addition, the former basketball player has several collections with Stance Socks. Since 2012, Wade has designed a collection of socks every season for the brand. Utilizing stylish colors and shapes, the socks are one of a kind.
He only knows how to win.
As a three-time NBA champion and business mogul, Wade knows how to secure the bag. That said, Wade’s role as an author, businessman, father, and husband keeps his hands full. However, he’s showing no signs of slowing down on the business front. Although Wade is enjoying retirement, he continues to challenge the status quo — all while representing multiple brands.
