Soulful R&B singer Ella Mai strips down on her completely raw and vulnerable song “Naked.” The singer’s voice glides over the DJ Mustard- produced track as she’s not afraid to be unapologetically vulnerable, but only for the right lover. She wants to be accepted, flaws and all: “Are you ready to fight just to see what’s lost behind my flaws?”
In the video Mai and several other individuals are shown in their purest forms as she sings effortlessly about acceptance and love. “Naked” plays on absolute simplicity and advocates for causes with signs that read #PrayForDaca and #PrayForPuertoRico.
Mai is an English singer and songwriter who moved from London to New York City at the age of 12. After returning to England she competed on series 11 of the X Factor. Later that year she released a four-track solo EP on Soundcloud.
Mai then later began doing Instagram covers singing the songs of everyone from Michael Jackson to Kanye West. It was her cover of Tupac’s “Keep Ya Head Up” that caught the attention of DJ Mustard.
