Donald Glover, better known in the music world as Childish Gambino, has become a fixture on playlists all over the world, but soon fans will only have a distant memory of classics made by the musician/actor.
Glover announced at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival in New York City that his next album will be his last album saying, “I’ll see you for the last Gambino album,” as he walked off the stage.
In an interview with Huffington Post, Glover says that he won’t be continuing his music career because he feels that Gambino isn’t “necessary” anymore.
“There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?’” he said. “You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”
While we’re sad about the retirement of Gambino, we do have a lot to look forward for Donald Glover the actor.
He will voice Simba in the upcoming live action adaption of the Lion King, appear in the Spiderman: Homecoming, in theaters this July, develop an animated version of Deadpool for FXX, and of course, continue to star in the highly acclaimed series Atlanta.
