Tierra Whack’s ‘Whack World’ is an Audacious and Riveting Piece of Visual Art

The Music is Amazing as Well

MEFeater mentioned Tierra Whack in the emerging female artist list back in March and by listening to her artistically courageous debut album Whack World you will see why. She has a unique taste for the unusual and you can hear it within the music. Her sound isn’t very outrageous but you hear it specifically in her vocal mannerisms and personality. She structures her songs differently. She performs her songs like nobody else.

Whack has always been innovative when it came to music videos, fans saw this with the “Mumble Jumbo” visual from last year. This, however, it’s at a completely different level. She put together 15 clips that are one minute each, just like the song lengths on the album. It turned into a decadent piece of performance art.

All of the songs are fantastic, but what makes this video really special is what Whack is doing and its various setting. The symbolism, makeup, facial gestures, and clothes all come together to make this video the triumph it is.

We see Whack dance in a party trailer, break herself out of a paper house, and take nail art to whole new level. It’s a colorful adventure that elevates her short songs tremendously. It feels like all of these songs are true to her life, but the visuals allow her to play characters or maybe those characters are just facets of her huge personality.
