Selena Gomez is going behind the camera as an executive producer of 13 Reasons Why, a show premiering on Netflix in March. Based on best-selling mystery young adult novel, it tells the story of Hannah, the show’s main character, who committed suicide.
The show will be based on what caused her to end her life. The deceased party, Hannah has created 13 cassette tapes (hence the title of the book) to pass along to 13 of her classmates. One of the other main characters, a love interest of Hannah’s, receives the box of 13 cassette tapes from Hannah, with each having reasons on why each classmate that she has instructed to receive a tape, has played a role in her death.
