RuPaul Has a Scripted Series Heading to Hulu

Andre “RuPaul” Charles landed a fictionalized half-hour dramedy series on Hulu with production by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot.

“Queen” is based on the iconic drag queen rise from club goer to drag queen and global voice for the LGBT community in during the 1980s.

The Drag Queen icon will executive produce alongside Abrams, Ben Stephenson and World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. Power’s executive producer Gary Lennon writes the up-and-coming series.

RuPaul’s hit VH1 competition show, RuPaul’s Drag Race is also nominated for eight Emmys. Drag Race is the first LGBT-oriented program to be nominated in the Outstanding Reality Program category.
