Our forever first lady, Michelle Obama, is undoubtedly a fashion girl. When it comes to her style, she plays no games. Whether she attended a White House event or did a press run for her book, her looks were on point. Over the years, Obama’s style has constantly evolved, especially since she left the White House. 

Obama experimented with fashion, and with each fit, we saw a new side of her. It wasn’t long before she became one of our favorite fashionistas. In honor of Obama’s 60th birthday, we are sharing 10 times she snatched our edges with her unique style.

1. Her Balenciaga look was that girl.

The author undeniably slayed and had the internet on fire with this Balenciaga look. She sported this stylish fit while discussing her book “Becoming” in 2018 with Sarah Jessica Parker. The Balenciaga boots alone were enough to turn heads and paired well with the yellow silky shirt dress she donned.

2. She slayed in head-to-toe denim.

Obama stepped out in a full denim-on-denim fit designed by Ganni and paired with Stuart Weitzman boots. The former first lady wore this while promoting her book, “The Light We Carry.” This ensemble was a more relaxed style for the author that was fashion-forward and effortless.

3. Her 2016 White House state dinner dress was to be envied.

For her final White House State Dinner in October 2016, the then-first lady pulled out the dress of all dresses. The custom rose gold Atelier Versace chainmail gown made her the prettiest woman in the room. The fitted bodice, drapery, and off-shoulder neckline all worked together to give her one of her best looks. The outfit was completed with Le Vian diamonds.

4. She devoured in Sergio Hudson.

Our fave stunned the world when she arrived at the 2021 presidential inauguration in this Sergio Hudson look. Social media was ablaze as they gagged over her plum-colored turtleneck and trousers. Also, let’s not forget that her hair was LAID! This ensemble will forever be one of Obama’s top looks.

5. She served in vegan leather.

Dressed in head-to-toe vegan leather, Obama was stylish and fashion-forward. The details of this look are what we love the most, from her studded boots to her hair. This outfit can also double as a street-style look that any model would wear.

6. Her crystal embellished cape stole the show.

In 2019, Obama elevated a simple black suit look by adding a crystal-embellished cape. She donned the look while promoting her book “Becoming” in Toronto. The cape was the perfect addition to a timeless look that she pulled off effortlessly.

7. Michelle gives disco at Essence Fest.

Obama had the crowd in awe as she gave disco fever in a belted blue Sergio Hudson jumpsuit. She appeared at Essence Fest in 2019 and sat down with Gayle King to talk about what it was like to live in the White House. This custom look was curated by stylist Meredith Koop.

8. She stunned at the 2016 Nordic State Dinner.

Looking like a princess in a Disney movie, the former first lady made a grand entrance at the Nordic State Dinner. The mesmerizing blush-colored Naeem Khan gown accentuated her figure and toned arms.

9. Her Vera Wang dress turned heads.

This Vera Wang dress was a showstopper! To date, it is still one of her most popular looks. Obama wore the gorgeous off-the-shoulder gown to the 2015 China State Dinner at the White House. The dress also featured a V-notch neckline and mermaid hem.

10. Michelle Obama is always dazzling in Sergio Hudson.

Obama slayed once again in this silky purple Sergio Hudson suit. She wore this fit while promoting her book in 2019. The look was paired with a sequined bustier by Christy Rilling Studio, giving it just enough edge.
