Mugler has dropped a star-studded film highlighting their Spring Summer 2022 collection. Featuring supermodels, Adut Akech, Dominique Jackson, and Bella Hadid, the collection teaser was sure to turn some heads. But the true star of the show was Megan Thee Stallion donning a chic laser cut denim two-piece set and hoop earrings big enough to wrap around her torso. So big, they could be mistaken for hula hoops. She’s a Mugler Mami indeed. Meg’s partnership with Mugler has become more apparent as she’s recently worn their designs during her BBMA’s performance and recent Plan B video and has dropped the brand name in her lyrics.
The collection along with the visuals truly celebrates the ballroom scene from the music to the killer walks and fashions and the performances in between. Mugler stans took to Twitter to dissect the looks and cinematics. Some of our favorite moments: Domonique Jackson strutting across the top of a limousine like it’s a runway, Meg going from studio to billboard in an instant, and Aweng Chuol showing off her angles. The film closes with an iconic quote from the late Manfred Thierry Mugler stating “Everybody can look like a goddess. Yes – why not?”
The film felt unique, modern, and culturally appropriate considering this month is Pride month. The LGBTQIA+ community has done so much for culture, music, entertainment, and fashion through ballroom – it’s truly an art form like no other. Let’s celebrate those contributions out loud.
