Growing up in Paris ??

Mapy grew up in Paris but is originally Reunionese Creole. Her family originates from a French Island in the southeast of Africa. During her childhood, she listened to a lot of music. Mapy learned classical violin at the Conservatory in Paris. Acoording to Mapy, it was a very strict environment. Students had to be dressed in a certain uniform and were forced to learn classical music amongst other things. Besides her lessons, Mapy experimented with other genres of musics such as raggae, soca, Afro beats, and hip-hop. After her degree she was unable to find a job offering the recognization she expected. In France, violin is a very “white” discipline. She has worked with stars
such as Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dog, Waka Flocka, French Montana and more. Last March, she even performed “Rockstar” at the Grammy Awards with DaBaby.???
