ICYMI: Why Kid Cudi and Drake Have Real Beef

The music industry would be nothing without a beef between artists here and there. But one recent beef is between two major artists that appeared to have come out of nowhere. This beef is between rapper Drake and recording artist Kid Cudi.
It all started last year when rapper Meek Mill tweeted about Drake having ghostwriters, saying that Drake did not write his own songs. Of course Drake couldn’t leave this insult unattended to. This led to an on-going feud between the two, which appears to not be ending anytime soon. We even got a couple of diss tracks out of their feud. Drake’s track “Back to Back” even got a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance, so maybe the feud had some pros.
However recently, Kid Cudi decided to join in & tweet some thoughts of his own. His tweets allege that Drake uses ghostwriters, but not only did he just mention Drake. He went on to mention ‘Ye’ —Kanye West—as well. Kanye’s response was given while he performed at one of his concerts on tour. He said, “You mad because I’m doing songs with Drake? Ain’t nobody tell Ye who to do songs with. Respect the god!” However, he soon quickly praised Kid Cudi on another tour stop by saying that Cudi was “the most influential artist of the past 10 years.”
Soon after Kanye’s response, Kid Cudi let the entire world know, through a heartfelt letter, that he was admitting himself into rehab for mental health issues. But this seemed to be an opportunity for Drake. His response to Kid Cudi’s allegations were a bit more lyrical. Instead of tweeting or even responding straightforward, he mentioned Cudi in one of his newly released singles “Two Birds, One Stone.” He raps,

“You were the man on the moon/ Now you just go through your phases/ Life of the angry and famous/ Rap like I know I’m the greatest.”

Kudi’s response was tweeted out. He replied to the diss—

He then added, “The love has been unfathomable. I look forward to hearing, breathing, and feeling it all at ComplexCon Nov 5th. Love and back to rehab. -Cud” While it seems that Kudi had access to internet while in rehab, Drake has not decided to respond to that.
Whatever beef these two have going on, we hope it ends soon so that maybe we can get a collaboration in the future. They’re both amazing artists and we’d like to wish them both good luck!
