The long-awaited second season of the hit Netflix series Bridgerton is back. Returning with new cast members, love interests, and more drama; season two of Bridgerton did not disappoint. Here’s a rundown of all the drama that went down in season two.

Anthony Bridgerton
The main lead for season two of Bridgerton is Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton sibling and Viscount. This season is based off the second Bridgeton book The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. We follow Anthony as he sets out to find a suitable wife, only to meet his match in his intended bride’s headstrong older sister. This season’s love interests are Kate Sharma (Sex Education star Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran).
When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — true love is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating relationships on both sides. Matters get more complicated after Anthony proposes to Edwina and she accepts. However, at the wedding Edwina runs away leaving Anthony at the altar. Finally aware of her sister and Anthony’s romantic feelings for each other, Edwina calls off the wedding. This news shocks the town!
Eventually after a long season of cat and mouse games, Kate and Anthony finally receive their happy ending in the season two finale and get married.
Daphne Bassett
After Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke got married last season, it was announced that the actor who plays Simon (Regé-Jean Page) would not be retuning for season two. However, Daphne returns to take care of their son, Augie Bassett, while also assisting her brother Anthony in his romantic pursuits.
Eloise Bridgerton
Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) has all eyes on her this season with her elder sister Daphne out of the picture. Eloise is expected to follow her older sisters footsteps and have a successful courting season. Unfortunately for everyone else, Eloise has a different idea. Eloise occupies herself by reading feminist books and uncovering the true identity of Lady Whistledown. Eloise is completely unaware that her best friend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) is secretly Lady Whistledown.
Eloise’s journey to discover Whistledown’s secret identity takes her to the print shop Whistledown uses. There, Eloise meets a boy named Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch) who shares similar ideas. After secretly spending time together, Eloise and Theo develop a mutual crush. However, they ended up arguing and falling out due to upper class and lower class differences. After telling Penelope of her interests in Theo, Lady Whistledown exposes the budding romance between the two leading Eloise to slowly put the pieces together behind Whistledown’s secret identity. The season ends with Eloise and Penelope’s friendship up in the air after Eloise disocovers Penelope is Lady Whistledown.
Penelope Featherington/ Lady Whistledown
In season 1 , Bridgerton ended with the shocking reveal that youngest Featherington daughter Penelope is secretly Lady Whistledown. This season of Bridgerton followed Penelope as she got wrapped up in the melodrama of being Lady Whistledown. Penelope’s best friend Eloise Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) vowed to find out who Lady Whistledown is. Penelope is forced to seek acquaintance from the local modiste Genevieve Delacroix (Kathryn Drysdale) to keep up the charade. It is up in the air what season three has in store for Penelope aka Lady Whistledown now that Eloise knows her secret identity.
Colin Bridgerton
After majority of the season abroad, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) returns home. At the end of season one, Collin left to travel the world after he discovered his love interest, Marina (Ruby Barker) was secretly pregnant by another man. While traveling abroad, Colin pursued a pen pal friendship with Penelope unaware of Penelope’s romantic feelings for him. He even went as far as a to reject the idea of ever pursuing a romantic relationship with Penelope despite the two pursuing a relationship in the fourth book series.
Benedict Bridgerton
Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) is the second eldest Bridgerton child. Living in the shadows of his older brother Anthony, Benedict is afforded the luxury of being the carefree Bridgerton child, not rushing to marry. Season one of Bridgerton focused on Benedict’s sexuality – sleeping with both men and women. Season two follows Benedict’s journey to make a name for himself as an artist; Benedict applies to and gets into the Royal School to study art. Unfortunately, Benedict soon discovers that he was only accepted into the Royal School because his older brother Anthony paid a generous donation on his behalf. Not much has been explored with the character of Benedict in the Bridgerton world but season three is rumored to be his moment.
Season 3 of Bridgerton
Luckily for fans of the series, Bridgerton is not going away anytime soon. Bridgerton has already been renewed for a third and fourth season. The series is predicted to follow in the footsteps of the books and have a rumored 8 seasons, each revolving around one of the Bridgerton siblings. The third book in the series by Julia Quinn An Offer from a Gentleman follows Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) the second eldest Bridgerton child. The third Bridgerton book is modeled after Cinderella, featuring all the fairy tale’s classic elements: an orphaned girl, a wicked stepmother, and love at first sight at a masquerade ball.
In a surprise twist, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Shonda Rhimes revealed that the creators may deviate from the order that Quinn’s books layout. If this happens to be the case, it’s fair to assume the third season of Bridgerton will follow the fourth book Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. This book follows Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s romance.
